  1. We’ve been to The Alpine Adventure Park at Snowtrax many times before, the kids never get bored and it’s great value for money considering you can stay as long as you like.

Since we went on a very hot day it wasn’t busy at all and myself and a friend managed to get a table right in the middle of the park so the kids could see us easily and run back every time they need a drink or rest.  The park is under big tall trees and the majority is in the shade which was much needed in this current heatwave.

They have an obstacle course all around the park with forts and slides, balance beams, a zip line, trampolines, swings, climbing walls and a huge pirate ship with a twirly slide going from the top to the bottom.

There’s also a kiosk which sells drinks and ice creams, and toilets are within the park too.  If you need a meal or baby change facilities then you just need to walk up the hill to Snowtrax and you’ll find everything else there including the ski slope where the family can go skiing or snowboarding or there’s ringos and tubing which our kids have loved in the past.

We ended up spending nearly 5 hours there with the kids just playing and chatting with their friends.  Us mums had packed a picnic and drinks so we only need to pay for the entrance and ice creams which are reasonably priced compared to other places we’ve been to recently.  It’s such a great place to take the kids and one of the best things for me is that it’s completely fenced so you know the little darlings can’t escape haha.

Prices for a child in the adventure park is £5.75* however this is cheaper if you are already booked to do an activity like the ringos.  Under 2’s go free.  Adults cost £3.25 and this turns into a voucher which can be redeemed against drinks or ice creams.

My only advice if taking younger children is to be close by and to note that the pirate ship has very steep steps inside.  Please also avoid taking any glass into the park and I’d recommend trainers are best worn for kids.

  2. The Treehouse is a wonderful specialist venue created for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities.

Over the last few months, the main areas of Adventure Wonderland have been transformed with the help of supporters and volunteers to create The Treehouse.

On a recent launch day, I was lucky enough to have a look around and meet some of the team that have been involved in this new project which supports local families.

Facilities include an indoor soft play, role play areas, sensory room, cinema room, games room, bouncy castles, trampolines, mini golf and a Changes Places toilet. Ambitious plans for further exciting projects include a sensory garden, go kart and scooter track, water play area and outdoor learning.

Overview of the services that are currently being provided onsite:

    • Coping with CHAOS: Session for the whole family to attend, supporting children with additional needs from birth to 18 years.  The whole family is welcome to stay for the play session, including siblings, and meet other families in similar situations.

    • Project: For children with additional needs aged 8 to 18 years to stay and play without the family in order to help grow their independence and take part in all sorts of activities.  The children and young people also play a part in picking which activities they’ll do over the holidays.

    • STARs: For siblings of children with additional needs, this is split into two different age groups and gives the siblings a chance to be themselves and relax, while also meeting other siblings in similar situations and creating a support network.

    • Awesome Nights: For teenagers with additional needs, this weekday evening youth club allows everyone to build their social skills and get out in the community, as well as learning new skills.

    • Family Support: One just for the parents, where sessions could be an activity (afternoon tea, laser quest etc) or an ask the expert session where any questions can be answered.
