Halloween at Moors Valley
Posted on
The new Halloween at Moors Valley experience has definitely been one of the highlights of our year!
We opted for an early evening time slot so we could start the journey as it was getting dark and the atmosphere throughout the evening was really great. Everywhere we looked we could see children dressed up in their costumes which all added to the Halloween vibe.
Our tickets were checked as we went in and then we followed the lights before turning further into the forest and from here things got really good. The lighting and sounds in the woods are very eerie and it's worth noting that it's best not to rush in case you miss anything.
You'll see skeletons in cages, pumpkins, caskets with smoke bellowing out, projections, gravestones, ghosts that flicker, huge cobwebs, coffins and lots more. And don’t forget to look up occasionally, you’ll be amazed at what you might find! There’s lots to hear in the woods aswell including tweeting owls, spooky ghosts and scary sounds.
The 3 actors we saw were very good but my favourite was the ghostly undertaker who said for £60 you could spend the night in her graveyard. Our daughter was acting like a little madam at the time so we tried to negotiate a lower figure but she was firm with her price and we said we might be back haha.
Half way round there's a nice seating area and here you can buy hot and cold drinks, boozy tipples, pumpkin marshmallows and toffee apples which are made to order.
A few chuckles we had on the night included when my daughter was staring into the woods and a sudden sound made her jump back and then there was the moment when I was slapped in the face by a big bug, I’m pretty sure that wasn’t supposed to be part of the experience though. Thank god I didn’t have my mouth open!
Overall the trail took us about 1.5 hours and we could of quite easily gone round again because we enjoyed it so much.
If you go, don't rush round because there's lots of spookiness in the woods which you might miss. And make sure everyone has been to the loo before you start. (We all know what kids are like).
If you’re hungry before or after your walk then you’ll find trailers located near the car park and close to the start of the trail. You can buy burgers, hot dogs, fries, hog roast, Greek street food, alchoholic and non-alcoholic drinks plus Belgium waffles with toppings and kids waffles trees. This is also where you’ll find toilets and a Box Office if you have any queries.
