  1. Lush have some great Mother’s Day gifts in store and I was lucky enough to be invited to a bloggers meetup at Bournemouth Lush to learn about their products and ethics.

After a short introduction we were invited to taking part in some hands on activities and I started with a demonstration on how to make the Angels on Bareskin Fresh Cleanser which is inspired by an ancient medieval recipe.   The cleanser has ground almonds in for exfoliation and lavender for relaxation but the best bit was trying to get it rolled up like a roulade ready for chopping into slices.

A little group of us were then shown the current range of Mother’s Day bath bombs with big bright beautiful colours and divine smells.  I loved the Jasmine flower which had a little note of paper in the top ready for a message for that special person.  Actually, I loved this pretty one so much that I bought it for my own Mum.  There were a huge variety of bath bombs on display, with beautiful gold sparkly eggs, colourful butterflies and even one which opened up to reveal a Dinosaur inside!

I was most excited about making a pink bath bomb which had a pretty flower inside.  The Sex Bomb has the fragrant blend of jasmine, ylang ylang and clary sage and whilst making one I told the nice lady that I was going to give mine to a good friend who loves Lush and so she very kindly gave me the one she was demonstrating with so that we would both have one.

Everyone was so very welcoming, knowledgeable and kind, and although I didn’t get a chance to receive a hand treatment I still had a great time looking around and sniffing the products which I rarely get to do with the kids in tow.

All of the products I mentioned plus much more can be found instore or through Lush online.

  2. During the February Half Term week I took the kiddies and Nanny to see a delightful fairy tale show at the Regent Centre called Once Upon a Princess.

My daughter Lucy is nearly 3 now and Nanny bought her a beautiful Frozen dress for the occasion which she twirled around in at every opportunity.  Seeing all the little Princesses in the theatre foyer was super cute and I couldn’t wait to see Lucy’s face when the grown up Princesses were out on stage.

Ally Cox who plays Fairy Muddled finds herself in the Fairyland Library but the books have got mixed up and she needs help getting the pages back in the right book.  We loved each Princess being introduced into the story and the kids in the audience screamed out their names when they had to guess who it was.  Of course if there’s a Princess then there must be a Prince, but who would he marry?

We saw Snow White, Rapunzel and Belle to name just a few and the pop hits and musical classics had us boogying in our chairs and singing along.  Expect plenty of sparkle, beautiful costumes, singing, dancing and good old fairy tale entertainment in this delightful show.

Even now, some time after the show when we ask Lucy what Elsa does she crosses her arms with attitude and pouts her lips which cracks me up.  It’s not easy getting a theatre review from a 2 year old but she’s talked about it lots and keeps asking for a dressing up box full of Princess dresses so I’d say it was a big hit!

Once Upon a Princess is currently on tour but they will be back in Dorset at the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne on Sunday 12 May 2019.  For ticket prices and times of both performances please visit the Tivoli Wimborne.
